Edouard Miasnikov founded his own private artistic agency in 1992 to widen the cultural exchange between Russia and South Africa. The agency introduced the first Russian visiting conductors, soloist instrumentalists and chamber ensembles to South Africa including the Russian Folk Instrument Quartet SKAZ, Ensemble Baroque and The Moscow Chamber Orchestra.
He also brought The Moscow State Classical Ballet (1999), The Russian National Ballet (1998, 1999, 2002), The Bolshoi Ballet (2000, 2001), The Russian State Cuban Cossack Dance Company (2000, 2002, 2009) and the Souvenir Dance Company.
He also brought the Ice Revue from Moscow – Kaleidoscope (2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006), Russian Chamber Ballet Moskva (2004), Stars of the Ballet Moscow (2005, 2006, 2008), Crown of the Russian Ballet (2007), Imperial Russian Ballet (2007, 2009), the Ekaterinburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre with Opera “Iolanta” (2008), the National Ballet of the Republic of Belarus (2008), State Saint Petersburg Male Ballet (2010) and other great performances.
In March 2009 the Festival of Russian Culture took place in South Africa. The organisers of the Festival included the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre and the Ministry of Arts and Culture of the Republic of South Africa. The festival concerts from our Agency were a great success in the cities of Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. Our Agency currently prepares for a reciprocal visit of the dance company Africa Umoja to Russia, Republic of Belarus and Republic of Ukraine in the coming year and hopes for the support from the state organisations in this exciting venture.
